UET United Electronic Technology AG (ISIN: DE000A0LBKW6), Eschborn, is reaching the milestone targets set on its path to more energy efficiency and climate neutrality. After completion of the energy and emissions analysis for the years 2020 to 2022, the savings in electrical energy for 2022 compared to 2020 amount to 36 percent or around one million kilowatt hours (kWh). During the same period, sales increased by 31 percent. The energy demand is mainly for production, testing and development.
Over the past three years, emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) caused by operations have been reduced by 317 metric tons. This is equivalent to the carbon dioxide capturing of 25,000 beech trees. Achieving climate neutrality in 2030 and continuously increasing energy efficiency are cornerstones of the UET-Group’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) plan.
20 projects for more sustainability in the group of companies
The UET Group’s sustainability program currently comprises 20 projects. In addition to savings measures in the areas of lighting, heating and mobility, these also include process improvements as well as energy improvements to company buildings and investments in new energy-efficient machines and systems. In addition, new products and services relating to the circular economy are being developed, thus opening up new business areas and markets.
“Reaching our milestone targets for more sustainability is confirmation for us that we are well underway to climate neutrality by 2030,” says CEO Werner Neubauer. “We will strengthen our activities and take a leading position with respect to sustainability in the telecommunications industry.”
All activities are part of the ESG goals. With ambitious and substantive measures, the UET Group makes a sustainable contribution to the protection of our living environment. This program was launched in 2020 with the first target of reducing electricity consumption in production relative to the manufacturing volume by 20 percent in 2022 based on average consumption in the years 2015 to 2019. This target has been achieved and overfulfilled.
