The remote powering system RPS 1600 is a highly efficient, modular system that employs the installed copper infrastructure to remotely supply power to active components, e. g. street cabinets. Network operators benefit from saving up to 40% on power supply installation and operation cost compared to local powering solutions, doing without trenching, and speeding up their G.fast, VDSL, LTE and fibre rollouts to get wider broadband service to their end users.

The system consists of minimum one power supply unit (PSC 1600 / PSC 08xx) and one or multiple remote components (PSR 04xx / PSR 08xx). The modular concept of the RPS 1600 guarantees adaptation of the the system to meet individual requirements of the operators: One remote component can employ up to four (PSR 04xx) or up to eight (PSR 08xx) copper wire pairs for remote powering, delivering up to 22 W* per wire pair. By using of the cascaded operation (PSR 083x) the RPS 1600 can deliver up to 1,440 W to a remote location. With the new power/ VDSL combiner (diplexer) unit PSD 080x the RPS 1600 system is able to use also such copper lines, where VDSL2 service is running and delivers hereby “power over DSL”. By doing this the CAPEX costs for installations can further reduced as no fibre line is needed to dig in to transfer to broadband signal esp. smaller DSLAMs in FTTx deployments as this VDSL2 backhaul lines could be used for powering at the same time. The state of the art management (NMS) tool Metro Integrator gives RPS 1600 the carrier grade touch in combination with the PSM 1001 remote management unit.
